Minecraft: PlayStation 3 Edition is the PlayStation 3 edition of Minecraft, developed by 4J Studios for Mojang Studios. This was the first edition of Minecraft released on a Sony console. Mojang's popular sandbox game brings its blend of digging, exploration, and building to the PS3 in the aptly named Minecraft: PlayStation 3 Edition.
This spectacular game has the following features:
- Customize as you wish: As always, players can customize and control the default character (affectionately known as Steve) and delve into randomly generated worlds made up of cubes representing various elements and materials, such as iron, sand, and coal.
- Almost a real world: The worlds operate on realistic day/night cycles and feature varied terrain and environments, and as players explore they encounter a variety of creatures and non-player characters known as mobs.
- Game Modes: There are two modes in Minecraft, both of which can be played solo or with friends in split-screen multiplayer action.
- Survive!: Survival mode is an open-ended adventure in which players are encouraged to gather natural resources, build shelters, and gradually acquire or craft more powerful and effective weapons and armor.
- Mobs everywhere: Daytime mobs like cows, chickens, and sheep can be killed for food and materials, while nighttime mobs like giant spiders, zombies, and skeletons will attack players on sight.
- Monsters and More: Other monsters include the iconic Creepers, which sneak up on players and explode, or the creepy Enderman, who can teleport and grab blocks, but is benign unless provoked.
- Endless Fun: There's no definitive end point in Survival mode, but players may eventually find themselves visiting the Nether, a Hell-like alternate dimension filled with unique resources, or the End, a dimension containing only the Ender Dragon, a boss whose death triggers the game's credits.
- A game with multiple variants: Survival mode variants include a peaceful mode, which eliminates all hostile creatures, and a hardcore mode, which deletes the entire world if players die.
- Your creativity is the limit here: The second way to play Minecraft is in Creative mode, which grants immediate access to the vast majority of the game's elements and objects, allows players to fly around the map freely, and encourages them to design anything they can imagine, from single-room houses to entire cities recreated in great detail.
